Vance Discusses Epstein's Alleged Intelligence Connections
United States Vice President JD Vance recently stated that the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein maintained unspecified connections with Israeli intelligence. These remarks were made during an extensive interview with podcaster Joe Rogan, released on Wednesday. Vance was specifically addressing theories suggesting Epstein's potential links to Israel's Mossad spy agency.
According to Vance, Epstein's network extended to the highest echelons of intelligence in both the United States and Israel. "He clearly had connections to the upper, the highest levels of American intelligence. He clearly had connections to the highest levels of Israeli intelligence," Vance asserted during the interview.
The Vice President further elaborated on the nature of Epstein's alleged Israeli connections, suggesting they leaned towards a left-of-center ideological perspective within the country's political landscape. "Epstein seemed to be connected to the elements of the Israeli deep state that were left of centre. I’ve always found that fascinating. It wasn’t like he was super connected to the right of centre of Israeli politics," he commented.
Trump Administration's Handling of Epstein Files
Beyond the intelligence connections, Vance also conceded during the interview that the Trump administration had "absolutely" mishandled its public communications concerning the Epstein files. He primarily focused on former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who had previously claimed that an alleged client list belonging to Epstein was "sitting on my desk right now."
Under Bondi's tenure, prior to her dismissal by Trump in April, the Justice Department reportedly provided conservative commentators and influencers with binders labeled "The Epstein files: Phase 1" and "Declassified." Vance, however, expressed a nuanced view on Bondi's actions. "I know Pam. I like Pam. I don’t think there was anything malicious going on," Vance told Rogan. "I think Pam was trying to respond to the political moment. I think she overstated what we had and what we didn’t have."
Vance noted that Bondi faced considerable public criticism for her statements, which he believes led to a "mistrust" in the administration's efforts to be transparent about the Epstein files. "We absolutely screwed up the comms of the Epstein files. Like, we just did," he admitted. Despite this, he maintained that the communication failures were not an attempt to conceal information. "But do I think the reason we screwed up the comms is because we were trying to hide something? No," Vance concluded.
