In the face of ongoing conflict and extreme hardship, students in Gaza have demonstrated remarkable resilience by excelling in their Tawjihi exams. The Musa family from Khan Younis exemplifies this spirit, with siblings Sama, Abdullah, and Nada achieving high scores despite the adversity surrounding them. Sama achieved the highest score among the siblings, reflecting on the challenges she faced during her academic journey. "Thank God for everything. I expected a higher grade, but the circumstances determined the result we achieved," she said. Her brother Abdullah and sister Nada, who both overcame physical disabilities, also celebrated their success, attributing it to the unwavering support of their family.
Overcoming Educational Challenges
The journey was particularly challenging for Abdullah and Nada, who were unable to attend private lessons due to their disabilities. Their family arranged for teachers to visit their home, ensuring they received the necessary education. Their mother, Hind Muhanna, emphasized the years of dedication that led to their success, noting that their confidence was a key to their achievement. Nada expressed gratitude for her parents' support, which motivated her to overcome difficulties.
Despite the family's efforts, the harsh realities of life in Gaza inevitably impacted their studies. Abdullah remarked on the significance of their accomplishments given the difficult year they endured, marked by displacement and hardship. "Thank God, it was a grade that reflected the effort and hard work," he said.

The broader educational environment in Gaza remains dire, with thousands of students, including the Musa siblings, striving to complete their studies against a backdrop of conflict. Palestinian Minister of Education Amjad Barham revealed that approximately 89,000 students took the Tawjihi exams this year in the occupied territories, with many in Gaza facing extreme challenges. Tragically, over 1,100 students who were scheduled to take the exams were killed during the ongoing hostilities.
The educational infrastructure in Gaza has suffered immensely, with the United Nations reporting extensive damage to schools, many of which require reconstruction. Despite these obstacles, teachers like Hanaa al-Sayed have continued to support students, providing not only academic instruction but also emotional support amid the turmoil.

Tala Abu Sukkar, a student from the Bureij refugee camp, faced the loss of multiple family members during the conflict but remained determined to succeed. Despite these hardships, Tala achieved an impressive score of 86 percent, a testament to her resilience and determination. "I lost people who were part of my life. The hardest thing was continuing my path while carrying all this pain," she reflected.
