Widespread Damage and Disruptions Reported in Ryazan
Ukrainian drone attacks have targeted industrial facilities in Russia's western Ryazan region, resulting in multiple fires and prompting the evacuation of local warehouses belonging to the major online retailer, Wildberries. Local authorities confirmed the incidents, detailing the extent of the damage and the operational disruptions caused.
Pavel Malkov, the Governor of Ryazan, stated that approximately 45 drones were intercepted over the region during the overnight hours on Tuesday. The debris from these downed drones ignited a fire within an "industrial area" and caused damage to both a residential property and another building. Six individuals required hospitalization due to injuries sustained during these events, as reported by Governor Malkov on Telegram.
This development aligns with an observed increase in Ukrainian assaults on Russian industrial locations. Kyiv has specifically accused Wildberries of indirectly supporting the Russian military through its operations. According to statements from the company and local officials, at least seven Wildberries warehouses have been damaged by drones in recent days. This damage is estimated to have destroyed about 10 percent of the company's total storage capacity, severely disrupting its operations and inflicting financial losses upon tens of thousands of small businesses that utilize the platform for their sales.
Ukrainian Leadership Comments on Intensified Strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that recent Ukrainian strikes successfully hit "an oil refinery and logistics centre in Ryazan." Additionally, an attack was conducted on a site in Russian-occupied Crimea, which houses high-speed vessels belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In a post on X, Zelenskyy emphasized, "Russia must feel that every day of this war will only come at a higher cost for it."
Reciprocal Attacks and Military Developments
Separately, a woman lost her life and a man sustained injuries in the southern Russian city of Taganrog, situated on the Sea of Azov. This incident occurred when missile debris struck an apartment building. Taganrog is a hub for various industrial facilities and also features a significant grain terminal. The regional governor, Yury Slyusar, provided details on this event.
In Ukraine, a man was killed and three others were wounded in Kherson following a Russian drone attack, as reported by local authorities. Furthermore, five individuals, including a child, were injured in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region. This area experienced numerous Russian assaults involving drones, aerial bombs, and artillery, according to the head of the local military administration.
On Wednesday, Russia's Ministry of Defence announced that its forces had secured two Ukrainian villages: Svtitle in the eastern Donetsk region and Nova Sich in the northeastern Sumy region. The ministry also claimed that its drones successfully struck two vessels transporting weapons and military equipment east of the Ukrainian port of Odesa. The local military administration chief in Odesa subsequently reported damage to infrastructure in the area.
Both Ukraine and Russia have increasingly targeted vessels in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov in recent weeks. This escalation has contributed to a decline in the availability of oil and grain supplies across the region, impacting trade and logistics.
