German coach Matthias Jaissle has emerged as the likely candidate to replace Howe. Jaissle currently manages Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, a club also owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which owns Newcastle. With a background as a central defender, Jaissle played for Germany's Under-21 team and helped Hoffenheim achieve two promotions to the Bundesliga. Before joining Al-Ahli in 2023, he spent two seasons managing Red Bull Salzburg.
